Due to the nation-wide lockdown, all the public places have been shut down indefinitely and that is why a lot of filmmakers have decided to take the digital route for their film’s release including the Ayushmann Khuraana and Big B starrer, ‘Gulaabo Sitaabo’ whose trailer is being loved by everyone, and the Vidya Balan led biopic, ‘Shakuntala Devi’. Now we hear that Nikkhil Advani and sister Monisha Advani too are in talks with a few OTT platforms to release their upcoming venture.
Kiara Advani’s next Indoo ki Jawaani is also in talks for its digital release after the Ayushmann Khurrana-Amitabh Bachchan starrer and the Vidya Balan-led film. A source told Pinkvilla, “Kiara’s film is completely ready and the post-production work is also almost done. The film was being planned for a release in the first week of June. Now, Nikkhil Advani and Monisha Advani, from Emmay Entertainment are in talks to release it on the web.”
The news portal quoted another source as saying, “It’s a good call for the makers. Indoo Ki Jawaani is a small budget good concept film, so they will easily recover their costs from the digital release. But currently, they are in talks with three big OTT platforms and whoever gives them the best price, they will sell it to them. They are in a good position.” Earlier there were speculations of Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani starrer, ‘Laxmi Bomb’ getting a digital release as well.
Amid all this, there’s been a huge furore between exhibitors and producers on the release of few films on the OTT platforms. Initially, makers of ‘Gulaabo Sitabo’ had a feud over the release of their film on the digital platform. With nation-wide lockdown, the film fraternity has been incurring humongous losses. Several theatre owners expressed their displeasure over the decision to release films like ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ and ‘Shakuntala Devi’ on OTT.
