Valimai, starring Ajith Kumar, has set a record for the opening day of a new non-vacation in Tamil Nadu. On the first day, the film struck around RS 28.25 Crore, making it the biggest opening of Ajith Kumar and the second largest all time in Tamil cinema, right behind Sarkar, which was released during Diwali.
The actioner directed by Vinoth has been in the main editor since being released with fans, trade and reviewers who discussed its contents.
Some viewers expressed dissatisfaction with film lengths, especially in the second round. According to reports, Ajit Kumar, Boney Kapoor, H Vinoth, and the entire Valimai crew heard the statement.
“Because it is constructive feedback from several places, the team has voluntarily decided to cut the film. While the Tamil version has been cut by 12 minutes, the Hindi version has been cut 15 minutes.”
The crew was willing to choose to shorten the film because it received positive feedback from various sources.
The source close to the project was disclosed, “While the Tamil version has been shortened 12 minutes, the Hindi version has been shortened 15 minutes,”
Apart from the 15-minute pieces in the Hindi version, the film opening song, Nauda Vera Maari, has been removed, produces a total cutting of almost 18 minutes.
Print adjustments are set to start applying with late Friday’s performances. According to sources, Valimai ticket prices are lower on Fridays than on Thursday, and a single screen distributor has adopted a four-show-per day strategy, which is the standard for all Tamil films.
Valimai is expected to have two digits of the second day, according to the initial estimate, however, the trend on the evening and night events will provide a more accurate picture.
