Another day to rise and grind.   Trying to quell these butterflies is getting to be a bit of a task everytime I walk through these gym doors….   seven seconds to scan the room.   Nothing.    I look up at the clock and its still early.  Maybe she’s late.  

Four minutes to class and she’s still not here.. I surprise myself with this feeling I’m having now, my heart just sunk into my stomach.   I’ve gotten so used to seeing her face when I’m here, I almost miss her.   Almost.  

Class is just class and I find myself wondering where she is and what she’s doing.   The more I search for a reason not to think about [her], the more I find a reason to think about [her]. Do you know what that’s like? To think about not thinking about someone? It’s like a dog chasing their own tail.

As I’m getting ready to leave, I glance over to the door and to my surprise, there she is.   She’s waiting for the next class to start.   She’s here.   The cocaine heartbeat becomes erratic again, and I feel my face morph.   I smile. 

Think of something clever to say to her.   Be cool.  Be normal. 

I’m walking over there,  cool.. normal.. and we make eye contact.   She looks amazing this early in the morning.   Just as I open my mouth to say something, the girl to her right yells my name…   “NOOAHHH!  Long time no seeeee!”   

Fuck your timing, lady.   I converse with her as best I could, every once in a while holding Allie’s gaze in between sentences.   Its time for her to go inside but this lady is still talking to me, I interrupt her.

“Hey.  Have a good class.”
“Hey!  Thanks! Have a good day!” 

I have a great day, just because she said it.   I now believe that seeing her has just become the best part of everyday.  

“Although she’s crazy steppin, I’ll try to stop her stride
Cuz I won’t have no more of this passin’ me by.”
